Biography

Stacy Douglas is a Partner and Director of Diversity & Inclusion with Everett Dorey LLP.  Ms. Douglas has extensive experience working in a variety of areas, successfully defending transportation companies, major retailers and hotels brands, homeowner’s associations, individuals, automobile dealerships and public entities in personal injury, product liability, employment, toxic tort, trucking/transportation, and real property disputes. Stacy has successfully tried cases to favorable verdicts for her clients. She is also skilled at disposing of cases via artfully crafted motions, such as motions for summary judgment, motions for judgment on the pleadings as well as demurrers and motions to strike. Stacy’s favorite part of litigation is the client relationships and strategizing with her clients as she finds them to be the most knowledgeable not only on their business but how the public perceives them. Stacy believes that part of representing her clients is preserving their valuable reputation in the communities they serve. Stacy has drafted public media statements in response to catastrophic events on behalf of her clients to ensure the public’s perception is not tarnished by a singular event.

Ms. Douglas is active and passionate about promoting Diversity in the legal profession. Throughout her career she has worked to promote diverse attorneys across the Country by speaking and training clients and business entities on the importance of sexual harassment policies and training, unconscious bias, and elimination of bias training and how inclusion of all demographics is necessary to future success. Stacy is a member of the National Bar Association and is an active member of the Defense Research Institute, having served on the Board of its Diversity Committee. Stacy is currently Vice-Chair of DRI’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee and serves as the Annual Meeting Chair for DRI’s 2021 Annual Meeting. Stacy has also served on the Board of the Black Women Lawyers of Los Angeles, Inc. and was a trustee for the Los Angeles County Bar Association.  More recently, Stacy joined the International Association of Defense Counsel, an organization that requires nomination and vetting, where she serves as the Membership Chair for the Diversity & Inclusion Committee.

Most notably, Ms. Douglas has researched and written articles on jury voir dire as well as a myriad of diversity issues and has utilized her own diverse background, having hailed from Iowa, to connect with jurors from different backgrounds. She has also given risk management presentations for fraternities and sororities regarding the risks and implications of hazing practices. Stacy has become a sought-after speaker on a variety of substantive legal issues as well as the importance of diversity and inclusion and enjoys presenting important information with her colleagues and clients from across the country.

Ms. Douglas has been recognized by California Super Lawyers as a Rising Star from 2009-2013. She was also recognized in 2012 by American Registry as a Top Female Attorney. More recently, Ms. Douglas was the recipient of the 2019 DRI Albert H. Parnell Outstanding Seminar Chair Award. Stacy is Martindale Hubbell AV Rated.
