Biography

Colin Morris is Senior Counsel at Everett Dorey and works within the firm’s general liability and public entity defense practice areas, as well as the business litigation sector.

Colin has over nine years of combined defense experience, having also represented medical, dental and design professionals in matters of alleged malpractice and other standard-of-care disputes. His experience further includes representing municipalities throughout central and southern California in general and premises liability matters, as well as defending private mid-size employers against wage and hour, wrongful termination, and sexual harassment claims. Prior to practicing insurance and public entity defense, Colin spent several years at a large national firm working on behalf of investors in direct and class action securities litigation.

Colin attended the University of San Diego School of Law, where he received both his Juris Doctor and Master of Laws degrees. As a JD candidate, after earning invitations to the San Diego Law Review and San Diego International Law Journal, and being invited to Phi Delta Phi Legal Honor Society, Colin focused his extracurricular efforts on moot court and mock trial competitions. He later interned with the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office and volunteered as a deputy district attorney pro tem for the San Diego District Attorney. As a 3L, Colin helped found a new criminal law clinic with the aim of facilitating opportunities for USD law students to work through the San Diego chapter of the Innocence Project. During and after law school, Colin volunteered with Legal Aid Society of San Diego through its Domestic Violence and Unlawful Detainer clinics, and is a six-time recipient of the Wiley M. Manuel certificate for pro bono legal services.

Prior to law school, Colin spent two years studying civil engineering at the University of Southern California before transferring to CU Boulder. In his spare time, Colin likes to travel back to Colorado to ski, mountain bike, raft, and camp.
